Strategies to Support Transgender & Nonbinary Students @ Forum on Education Abroad Conference

This session will use the Forum’s publication, Supporting Transgender and Nonbinary Students in Education Abroad, to create a foundation of knowledge for attendees. It will address program design, marketing, advising, orientations, health and safety, and housing. Attendees will hear practical examples from institutions that have successfully implemented these guidelines. The goal is to encourage inclusive practices and improve support for transgender and nonbinary students in education abroad.
Location: Civic Ballroom North, 2nd floor
Learning Objectives:
- Explain common challenges faced by transgender and nonbinary students who participate in education abroad programming.
- Compare existing institution procedures with current best practices for supporting transgender and nonbinary students in education abroad.
- Use the Forum’s Supporting Transgender and Nonbinary Students in Education Abroad resource to improve support for this community at their institution.
